Compare In Office Teeth Bleaching Against At Home Teeth Whitening

The effectiveness of in office teeth whitening has been studied by a research team from the University of Texas. The main difference between in office versus at home self tooth whitening, aside from having the qualified dentist doing all the bleaching gel application etc, is the availability of specialized whitening lasers and lamps.

Professional class teeth color grading was performed using the Vitapan Classical and Vita Bleachedguide 3D-Master systems to ensure accurate results. The results show that with the help of patented chairside whitening lamps, the the oxidation and bleaching process can be safely accelerated. After two separate 40 minutes of whitening treatment over two weeks, the use of in office whitening lamps show about 3% improvements over patients not using the lamps. Whether that results is sufficiently significant to justify the cost for at dentist whitening is up to the individual. I do not think much of it by the way if you asked me. I think I will stick to my at home teeth bleaching since I already invested in a fitting pair of teeth trays and new teeth gel refills are quite cheap.
